Completed a “Get to know you” interview with Codesmith today. The interview was an excellent learning experience and I will be having a technical interview with Codesmith in a few weeks!

Spent the morning completing second half of the function challenges in Douglas Crockford’s “JS: The Good Parts.” Once the solution was typed out and correct, I would take the code and go through it one step at a time on paper to make sure I understand every piece written. (A learning concept I picked up from “JS: The Hard Parts.”

This evening was spent in a free “online / in person” workshop with Codesmith. The class was called “intro to API’s” First we learned the types of API’s and information about each type. Then we created a voice recognition app that allows the user to change the background color.

This is definitely one of the most exciting projects I have been able to work on in a group setting so far! (Also getting some pair programming in was a great experience.) If anyone ever has an opportunity to attend online workshops I would highly recommend it for the learning experience and the teamwork mentality. Below is the app we built =>
